What's the Difference between a book review and a book summary?

While a review gives an evaluation of the book along with the background information about the author, a summary describes what the book is all about. A summary usually presents the book's main idea and may list one or two intrigues developed in the text.

What is the Difference in Point of View (POV) Categories in literature?

First, second, and third person are categories of grammar to classify pronouns and verb forms. They also play an important role in literature.

  • First-person definition: first person indicates the speaker or the person telling their story. Relates events as they occur from memory and/or hearsay, making judgments on these and other characters.
  • Second person definition: second person indicates the addressee. The second person is a point of view that refers to a person or people being addressed by a writer or speaker, implying that the reader is either the protagonist or a character in the story and the events are happening to them.
  • Third person definition: third person indicates a third party individual other than the speaker. The writer uses third-person pronouns in their stories to describe what several characters think and feel.

What's the Difference between a Red Herring and a MacGuffin?
•  A red herring is defined as a misleading clue diverting attention from the  central point.
•  A MacGuffin, on the other hand, is an object (think The Maltese Falcon), device, or event of little or no intrinsic importance but motivating players.

What's the Difference between Show, Don't Tell?

“Show, don’t tell” is a creative writing technique that allows the reader to experience the story through actions, senses, and other vivid details. In other words, “showing” paints a picture in the reader’s mind, while “telling” simply states what happened.
